Free New BC Child Support & Spousal Support Calculator

In order to help ensure that support payments are fair, the government of Canada has published two different guidelines, the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines (for Spousal Support) and the Federal Child Support Guidelines (for Child Support). The calculations involved in these guidelines are complicated, and we want to make it as easy for you as possible. We have developed a Free BC Child Support and Spousal Support Calculator to help with this.

Our support calculator provides a quick reference to help you understand spousal support and child support. The support calculator is not comprehensive, and not applicable in every situation, but can assist you by providing an estimate of the support obligations in your circumstances. To obtain a calculation, simply fill out the form and click “Submit.” There are three different types of calculations made by the support calculator.

BC Child Support Calculations

The Federal Child Support Guidelines provide tables for determining child support payments. Our support calculator makes child support calculations based on the Child Support Guidelines tables for British Columbia. It simplifies the process of obtaining child support calculations. The support calculator is made for calculating child support in BC only.

BC Spousal Support Calculations

The Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines provide formulas to help determine appropriate spousal support payment amounts. They also suggest how long the payments should be made. Unlike child support calculations (which provide a set payment), spousal support calculations provide a range of possible amounts. The range is meant to be used as a starting point when negotiating spousal support.

BC Spousal Support and Child Support Calculations

In situations where spousal support and child support are both being paid, the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines use a different formula to determine an appropriate range of spousal support. In these cases, spousal support can vary based on the different benefits and tax credits available to parties with dependent children, as well as other tax considerations. Our Spousal Support and Child Support Calculator  considers only basic situations, and is meant to be used for quick reference only. Contact us and we can provide you with a comprehensive calculation that is tailored to your circumstances.

The Federal Child Support Guidelines and the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines are valuable tools for determining spousal support and child support. We believe that it is important that a free, easy to use, and accurate support calculator based on these guidelines is available to everyone. If you have any questions about the Child Support and Spousal Support Calculator, or if you need assistance with your own family law case, contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
